here's a link i found and I am using to get windows 7. actually, as i am typing, the setup just completed and i now have windows 7 (running as a window on my mac but this also works on pc)

edit: you lose everything, its a new operating system. i am unaware of any transferring information/data program.

If i downloaded this and set it up.. would i lose all i had on my comp at the start or would i have to reload everything into it.. and download everything..?

This is exactly what I'm wondering about, because I don't want to download a bootlegged copy and not be allowed to update it for security patches and things. I don't want to lose all my files either.
